This 5th Growth wine on the 1855 Classification of Médoc and Graves is an old Margaux wine property which gained prominence in the 19th century as the site for the development of a fungicide to combat downy mildew circa 1880.

A Premier Grand Cru Classe B on the Classification of Saint-Emilion in 2012, the property was owned by the founder of Maison Bouffard et Fils, the prominent wine exporter Ferdinand Bouffard
